Teaser Tuesdays: Call Me Irresisitible

teasertuesdays31 Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

From Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ Call Me Irresistible (Page 122)

“Maybe you should reconsider. He’s a decent-looking guy, and he’s rich. Frankly, he could be the answer to your prayers. ”

“If I were going to put a price tag on my lady parts, I’d fund a more appetizing buyer.”

I’m about halfway through the book and enjoying it very much. My only complaint (if you can really call it that) is that she refers to situations involving some characters which apparently took place in different books. But It’s probably my own fault and I should go back and read Fancy Pants and Lady Be Good.

Waiting on Wednesday: Call Me Irresistible

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

My Mom introduced me to Susan Elizabeth Phillips’s books. Well, she told me about them and suggested I read them. But as the good daughter I am, I ignored her. Mom’s reading selections were well different than me. She has hundreds of Harlequinns in her attic. And I don’t mean to offend any of those authors… some of those books are just not good. (I clearly didn’t know about Smart Bitches and Dear Author back then.)

So two years ago after I got my kindle and went nuts, I bought a SEP book after it was recommended based on previous purchases. I was hooked. I spent the summer reading through the Chicago Stars series. I loved those characters and the storylines. And yes it helps that they are set in Chicago.

For the last couple of months I have been really looking forward to Phillip’s newest book, Call Me Irresistible which is due out next month.

R.S.V.P. to the most riotous wedding of the year . . .

Lucy Jorik is the daughter of a former president of the United States.

Meg Koranda is the offspring of legends.

One of them is about to marry Mr. Irresistible – Ted Beaudine – the favorite son of Wynette, Texas. The other is not happy about it and is determined to save her friend from a mess of heartache.

But even though Meg knows that breaking up her best friend’s wedding is the right thing to do, no one else seems to agree. Faster than Lucy can say “I don’t,” Meg becomes the most hated woman in town – a town she’s stuck in with a dead car, an empty wallet, and a very angry bridegroom. Broke, stranded, and without her famous parents at her back, Meg is sure she can survive on her own wits. What’s the worst that can happen? Lose her heart to the one and only Mr. Irresistible? Not likely. Not likely at all.

Doesn’t that sound good? I think I need to reread Fancy Pants and Lady Be Good to get a refresher on the character of Teddy. Thankfully, I have the next month to accomplish that.

So what about you? What are looking forward to reading?
